Those in construction jobs have started work on the delivery of a new school building in Kent.
Kier South East joined Kent County Council representatives at Swanscombe Manor Community Primary School for a turf-cutting ceremony, which officially marked the start of construction work.
Once the £6.5 million scheme is completed, some 400 children will benefit from 16 new classrooms, a 280-seat theatre, dance studio, ICT facilities and office areas.
Built around a central courtyard area, the two-storey building will also feature a modern kitchen and dining area and nursery.
Head teacher David Lloyd said that the facility will be "a huge asset to the local community".
"It offers children and families facilities that will add many more dimensions to the quality of life in the local area. We are really excited about this innovative resource for Swanscombe," he commented.
It is hoped that the new building will open its doors to pupils in July next year.
Kier South East was recently presented with a certificate after it was named a finalist in the Local Authority Building Control Building Excellence Awards.
