Forming part of the government's Partnership for Schools initiative, the scheme will see 15 companies appointed to the contractors network to build academies and other educational facilities.
Greg Pitcher, deputy news editor of Construction News, welcomed the news and said such projects are "very important".
"Construction was hit quite hard during the recession and public sector work is of great importance to construction," he remarked.
Mr Pitcher also noted the broadness of the project's scope, which could see the organisations involved building schools, academies and even non-educational academies.
Furthermore, he commented on the stiff competition that the companies had to go through in order to reduce the number from 60 applications to the 15 successful firms.
The Building Schools for the Future framework is set to cost some £4 billion. From December, £500 million-worth of contracts are to start procurement using the Contractors' Framework in the first five months of the project.
