Its first phase of an educational establishment project in Estover took shape - with the addition of the tops to the first of the buildings on the site.
Cllr Grant Monahan, of Plymouth City Council, said: "Seeing such rapid change is already helping to generate a sense of excitement for what's to come. We have committed to making learning something everyone can enjoy across the city, whatever their age and circumstance."
He added that although it can be difficult to carry out day to day activities when works are ongoing, Kier Western has reacted well to what both the community and school need.
The new learning areas will include features such as more flexible learning spaces, an outdoor performance area and leisure facilities including a floodlit astroturf pitch.
The Kier group is currently split up into four operating divisions.
