An award success for one construction jobs firm has been celebrated recently.

Kier Islington took home the Best Environmental Business of the Year category at the Archant London Environmental Awards.

Boris Johnson, the Mayor of London, congratulated the finalists at last week's ceremony. He said: "I want London to be the best big city on earth and this can only be achieved with the collective efforts of inspirational people like yourselves."

He continued to encourage further environmental action in order to fight climate change.

Kier was given particular recognition for the firm's encouragement of cycling and waste recycling as part of its sustainable company travel plan.

The firm's staff involvement with initiatives such as Fight Irresponsible Fuel Abuse also impressed judges.

Kier's values include being committed to delivering on projects and service, with its core values including to be proactive, safe, enthusiastic, open and honest.

Its vision is "to be the most highly respected company in the industry".
