Morgan Ashurst has filled one of its top construction jobs by appointing Colin Best as its new national director of rail.

Mr Best, who has previously worked for Union Rail, Network Rail and Railtrack, will be responsible for the strategic development of the firm's rail operations, which concentrates on design, construction and upkeep of non-track infrastructure.

He said he was looking forward to taking on his new construction job and Morgan Ashurst was in a good position to expand its operations in the sector after being awarded qualified supplier status by Achilles Link Up last year.

Mr Best added that he hoped the company would soon secure its principal contractor's licence.

"This means we will be able to extend our construction services to a wider cross section of clients in the rail industry," he said.

Morgan Ashurst filled another construction job last month as it appointed former Laing O'Rourke director Graham Lumberg as its new area director for north Lancashire.
