Main function of the job: -

Electrical senior technician is responsible for maintenance, installation, inspection and operation of tug boats electrical and automation systems. His duties are ensuring that engine operation control, electrical equipment, fire alarm, navigation equipment, onboard emergency and safety systems are all operational.

Duties & Responsibilities: -

  • Responsible for the operation and maintenance of all electrical and control systems of the tugboat according to company safety procedures.
  • Performs maintenance and repair of generators, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, transformer, electrical motors, motor starters, distribution panels, alarm and lighting circuits,.. etc.
  • Perform insulation test of electrical cables to determine cables condition and repair or replace as required.
  • Diagnosis and troubleshoots faulty electrical equipment and circuits using appropriate test equipment to detect faults.
  • Use electrical drawings, schematics and electrical equipments manuals in installation and maintenance activities and the work must be carried out according to electrical codes.
  • Perform regular inspection of fire detectors, fire alarm system, navigational equipment, navigating lighting and batteries.
  • Execute routine preventive maintenance on all electrical equipment and electronic control system.
  • Maintains adequate inventories of electrical and control equipment spare parts and order replacements as required.
  • Execute all software configuration, cards change of the engine monitoring electronic system and other tugboat operations electronic control systems.
  • Diagnosis and troubleshoot faults in software and hard ware of all electronic control system panels.
  • Execute daily monitoring of all critical electrical, control systems and safety equipment as required.
  • Train local junior electrical technicians.
  • Prepare technical and maintenance routine reports.

Qualifications & Experience: -

  • Education: - HNC in electrical / electronic engineering.
  • Experience: - Minimum 15 years experience in ship and tug boats electrical and electronic systems installation and maintenance.
  • Excellent organizational and problems solving skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and team player skills.
  • Good English written and verbal communication skills.
  • Computer skills MS office.

 

Summary of Terms & Conditions:

  • Work Cycle of 56/21 including Travel Days for American, Eastern and Western Europe, others 65/21 , including Travel Days
    • 9 Hours a day
    • 6 Days a week
    • Payment for workdays only
