JOB TITLE: PRODUCTION TECHNICIAN

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Technical:
  • Identify the actions required to avert the possibility of a major incident occurring due to the process or external environment.
  • Identify and report to the control room any plant / equipment malfunction that could deteriorate into a major incident. Implement adjustments under the direction of the Control Room.
  • Ensure that the plant operation meets contractual specifications.
  • Operate as part of a team that is responsible for the continuous processing of oil & gas under the direction of the lead production technicians & control room operators.
  • Gathers and collects data and logs for the process and utility equipment. Identifies actions to be taken to minimize equipment and machinery failure.
  • Implement shutdown, isolation, depressurizing, and cleaning of equipment required for maintenance, purging, and de-isolating, ensuring all work permits have been cleared before bringing production back on line.
  • Carry out front-line maintenance such as filter changes, pressure and temperature gauges replacements, etc.
  • Assist maintenance technicians where required.
  • Recover the plant from any emergency shutdown and minimize loss of production while adhering to operating procedures.
  • The safe, efficient, and effective operation of the installation central control room and its associated equipment and logs.
  • Delivery of on-specification hydrocarbon exports from the installation.
  • Ensure the fiscal metering of hydrocarbon systems is in line with company procedures.
  • Knowledge of lab duties, procedures, and basic oil and gas analysis.
  • Assist in the design of process plant isolations.
  • Operate & monitor subsea control systems from the main control room.
  • Operate & monitor the process control system from the main control room.
  • Monitor fire & gas systems and take appropriate actions from the main control room.
  • Apply inhibits & overrides to the main control systems under instruction from the production supervisor.
  • Input data into production reporting systems.
  • Complete handover logs & reports.
  • Take a signatory role in the SSoW permit system.
  • Closely liaise with the marine ballast operator and marine supervisor to ensure the facility remains safe to operate through all environmental conditions.
  • Assist the Marine Department as required to ensure the Marine Control System is adequately monitored.
  • Safety:
  • Complete pre-start-up and operating checks, ensuring all interdependent systems are available, and bring any system into line under the direction of the lead production technicians. Completes post-start-up and operating checks to ensure normal operating conditions.
  • Operate in a safe and efficient manner, ensuring that all operations are carried out within the terms of the permit to work and local relevant standing orders.
  • Handles hazardous materials safely and implements operating procedures.
  • Supervision:
  • Supervises contractors personnel working on the site, ensuring they observe all safety procedures and statutory safety requirements.
  • Training requirements:
  • Fire Team Member.
  • Emergency response:
  • Perform in an emergency response role as defined in the company's procedures.


Essential Qualifications and Skills:
  • Educated to the ONC Standard or equivalent in craft, process, or technical qualification.
  • Process qualification: NVQ or equivalent standard.
  • Previous experience as a Production technician or Operator in gas processing, chemical / petrochemical industries
  • To be familiar with and have an understanding of the company's health, safety, and environmental policies.
  • Ability to deploy engineering & operational standards and procedures that meet both regulatory and safety standards.
  • Ability to identify, investigate, audit, and control technical change (within the limit of discipline knowledge).
  • Ability to undertake work to meet acceptance criteria with respect to safety and technical integrity.
  • Clear, fluent, and expressive use of verbal and written language to convey information and ideas.
  • Requirement to raise any nonconformance with the supervisor in a timely fashion.
  • Awareness of project activities.
  • Input into project / asset plans in a timely fashion if required.
  • Ability to provide guidance and motivation to co-workers.
